Blueberry leads — dark, skin-tart rather than jammy — over a dry juniper spine that keeps it from turning into fruit cordial. Alpine-clean through the middle, with a faint sweet-earth note from the berries and a short peppery finish. At 40% it stays light-bodied and crisp.

Cocktails
Bramble
A gin sour with blackberry bleeding down through the crushed ice: sharp lemon first, then dark sweet fruit at the bottom of the glass. The liqueur is heavy and sweet, so the gin has to push back — juniper and bite carry through where a softer floral bottle just gets buried.
The blueberry in Bertagnolli's 1870 Dry already points at dark fruit, so it meets the crème de mûre halfway instead of fighting it.
Gin & Tonic
Long, dry and bitter-edged, the tonic's quinine pulling against the gin's botanicals while the lime wedge sharpens both. Refreshing rather than contemplative. The gin has to hold its shape against all that dilution: juniper and citrus carry through, where delicate florals tend to vanish.
The skin-tart blueberry reads like berry tannin against quinine, and the dry juniper spine plus alpine crispness keeps its shape through all that ice and tonic where a jammier fruit gin would go syrupy.
Gin Sour
Lemon leads and sugar follows close enough to keep it drinkable, while egg white thickens the texture and rounds off the acid. The foam is cool and near-tasteless; the sour underneath is bright and sharp. Juniper has to push through all that citrus, so a dry, assertive gin holds its shape best.
Blueberry and lemon are a natural pair, and because the fruit here is dark and tart rather than sweet it lands as sharp berry over the sour, with the peppery finish poking through the egg-white foam.
